Sanctuary Care at Rye, located in New Hampshire, is a 56-bed long-term care community specializing in residents with mild to moderate cognitive impairment and memory loss. The facility utilizes the Family CareSpace social technology platform to connect residents with family and friends, foster transparent care, and improve staff effectiveness. Previously, security cameras provided limited visibility and did not allow caregivers to quickly react to dangerous situations such as falls or wandering.

Sanctuary Care aimed to allow residents the freedom to move around the community while providing families with peace of mind regarding their loved ones' safety and happiness.

The Solution

To address these needs, Sanctuary Care implemented Family CareSpace, which leverages CenTrak’s clinical-grade visibility technology. This platform enables each resident to move freely within the community. Family CareSpace integrates CenTrak with existing mobile and tablet streaming technology, allowing family members real-time visibility of their loved ones. With appropriate approval, family members can receive streamed photos and videos directly to their devices, regardless of their location worldwide.

The Benefits

Within six months of implementing CenTrak’s solution, Sanctuary Care filled its community and developed a healthy waiting list. Family members appreciated the improved visibility and the knowledge that staff could quickly and easily locate residents, preventing hazardous situations. Residents who wandered could be respectfully redirected before traveling too far, avoiding awkward or dangerous situations.

The increased visibility improved staff workflow and minimized time spent searching for specific residents, allowing staff to spend more time interacting and caring for them. Managing care schedules became more efficient due to staff knowledge of residents’ precise locations.

Staff effectiveness also improved significantly. Caregivers could be easily located when needed for adjustments or immediate needs, and staff could quickly summon help using the staff-alert feature.
