Launch of DuraTag for Medical Scope Management
CenTrak has launched its Medical Scope Management System featuring the durable, miniature DuraTag active RTLS tag designed to withstand high-level disinfection processes, enabling precise real-time tracking of medical scopes and other equipment through their lifecycle to improve healthcare efficiency and reduce infection risks, supported by compatibility with existing RTLS infrastructure and developed in response to demands from leading healthcare providers.
CenTrak has announced the availability of its Medical Scope Management System, designed to address the challenge of real-time and automated tracking of medical scopes throughout their usage, cleaning, and storage lifecycle. This system is particularly relevant as healthcare facilities adopt new scope-cleaning protocols, emphasizing the need to monitor scope lifecycle events with Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS).
The Medical Scope Management System is the first practical tracking technology for medical equipment that requires High-Level Disinfection (HLD). It operates in conjunction with CenTrak’s Clinical-Grade RTLS infrastructure and includes several innovative components:
- DuraTag: A miniature, durable active RTLS tag, not much larger than a quarter, that can be easily and safely attached to a scope. It is capable of withstanding high-pressure washing and harsh disinfection chemicals used during HLD. The DuraTag is also suitable for tracking stretchers and wheelchairs, which often require high-powered water jets for cleaning.
- Certainty-Based Workbench-Level Resolution: The technology provides precise tracking even when reprocessing areas are very close together.
- Compatibility: The system is compatible with battery-powered Gen2IR and Low Frequency technology, already installed in over 600 commercial and government accounts.
The development of this rugged, high-performance tracking system was driven by demand from leading hospitals, outpatient facilities, and CenTrak solution providers seeking to improve healthcare delivery efficiency and safety.
Dr. Ari Naim, President and CEO of CenTrak, stated that this new technology will help healthcare facilities address one of the industry's most notorious sources of patient infections. CenTrak continues to invest in engineering innovative solutions to meet the evolving challenges of healthcare delivery.
CenTrak’s Medical Scope Management System was featured at HIMSS 15.
