CenTrak

Healthcare's Most Trusted Infant Protection Security System

CenTrak’s newbaby™ infant protection system is a comprehensive, real-time location tracking and mother-baby matching solution designed for hospitals to ensure newborn safety through continuous monitoring, immediate tamper and unauthorized movement alerts, automated lockdowns, integration with access control systems, and customizable location visibility, thereby preventing infant abductions and pairing errors while providing peace of mind to families and staff.

Infant Protection System and Mother-Baby Matching

Keep a watchful eye on newborns 24/7. Ensure the baby is matched with the correct family and receive immediate alerts if bands are tampered with or an unauthorized location change occurs. Integration with Access Control systems provides advanced exit protection.

Protect every infant in your care with a reliable RTLS safety solution

Designed to enhance infant safety, CenTrak’s newbaby™ infant protection system offers live map views with real-time location updates, immediate alert notifications, automated lockdown procedures, and electronic mother-baby matching for newborn safety in hospitals.

Code Pink! Manual monitoring leaves room for human error

Humans are well, human. They can't be everywhere at once. Parents have enough worries; abduction attempts or being paired with the wrong newborn in the hospital doesn’t have to be one of them. When it comes to newborn security systems in hospitals, CenTrak is the leading solution.

Provide automated, facility-wide infant protection

Each newborn is easily assigned a small, comfortable, and unobtrusive device through the software’s auto admission process. Once secured, it continuously updates the baby’s location within the protected area, ensuring ongoing safety and security. You can customize visibility levels, choosing between zonal or room-level locating – scalable to meet your unique needs.

Knowing our infants are protected with this system makes me feel at ease. I can't be with the parents and new baby 24/7, but CenTrak technology can.

Enable quick and efficient response to prevent infant abduction attempts

CenTrak’s newbaby infant protection solution ensures patient safety and provides peace of mind to both family and staff. Eliminate risk and avoid Joint Commission sentinel events.

Key Features

  • Exit Protection: Escalating system of alerts and security measures as infants approach unauthorized zones or points of egress, including automated door locks and disabled elevator access.
  • Tamper Detection: The tamper sensor detects if the band is cut or the tag is no longer touching the skin. The system logs the event in the system’s database and displays an alert on the application workstation to notify staff.
  • Mother-Baby Matching: Support the correct matching of infants to their family members. Staff members are immediately notified if an infant is brought into the incorrect room or paired with the wrong mother.
  • Custom Workflows: Escalation paths, alarm rules, and workflows (transport, transfer, and discharge procedures) can be modified based on unique facility requirements.
  • Scalable Location: CenTrak delivers scalable location data, offering tailored visibility for equipment, patients, and staff at the room, sub-room, or zone level.
  • Robust Platform: The platform can be easily expanded to support a variety of staff and patient safety initiatives, clinical workflow applications, asset tracking, temperature monitoring, and more.
  • System Performance: Advanced system supervision ensures critical location data is consistently delivered to the application. Devices are equipped with long-lasting batteries for enhanced reliability.

Harness today's leading infant protection solution

The best step a healthcare facility can take for newborns and their families is integrating a state-of-the-art baby tracking system. The CenTrak Safety Solutions platform uniquely combines the industry’s most accurate Real-Time Location System (RTLS) with a proven infant safety and patient security system.

Real-Time Alerts

Staff can easily view workstation displays that show the floorplan and each protected exit. Immediate alerts are generated, enabling staff to take swift action and increase patient safety. Audible and visual alerts ensure crucial patient safety information is not missed:

  • Unauthorized location changes (abduction attempt)
  • Hospital infant protection band is cut
  • Infant security sensor is not touching the skin
  • Baby is brought into the wrong room/paired with the incorrect mother
  • Infant strays from the designated transfer or transport route
  • Infant fails to return to their designated area after a transport
  • Infant does not arrive at the receiving unit during a transfer

Comprehensive Software

View a list of events including alarm type, severity, date and time of occurrence, and a brief description. Also gain the understanding of infant movements, transfer and transport events, alarms generated over time, and more. The robust analytics provided by the system allows administration to view trends and better prepare for the future.

Infant Protection Tags

CenTrak offers a variety of waterproof and water-resistant sensors, including soft and comfortable wrist and ankle band devices. The SecureTag design has a concave shape for a comfortable fit and peace of mind that the tag has been applied securely. Battery-powered devices installed throughout the hospital wirelessly communicate with the sensors to verify that the baby is in the correct location.

Location & Network Reliability

By utilizing a dedicated, supervised network for RF communication (not the facility’s Wi-Fi), you can minimize the risk of outages and the traffic load on your existing networks. Network communications and urgent alerts are delivered faster with assured reliability for critical patient safety solutions. For zone-, room-, or sub-room level locating, CenTrak uses patented Second Generation Infrared (Gen2IR) devices. Without line-of-sight limitations, Monitors and Virtual Walls transmit a unique location ID using Gen2IR, which is received by any tag in that location. The tag communicates the location ID via radio frequency to Connect Core™ (Location Server), where it can be accessed in real-time by hospital personnel and integrated with various software solutions. Low-Frequency chokepoints are installed wherever necessary to provide egress detection.

Clinical Education

CenTrak provides clinical workshops and hands-on training to support staff to ensure customer success. Clinical educators go on-site to review system functionality with all facility stakeholders (system administrators, users, and managers), share best practices to alert response protocols, create a clinical workflow assessment to identify system customization opportunities, provide just-in-time assistance, and more.
