CenTrak Adds Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to Clinical-Grade RTLS Platform
CenTrak has integrated patent-pending Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology into its Clinical-Grade RTLS platform, enabling seamless communication with nonproprietary devices and enhancing healthcare asset, patient, staff, and visitor tracking through a multi-technology open architecture, with initial installations starting February 2015 and upgrades planned for over 550 healthcare facilities worldwide.
CenTrak has announced the addition of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to its Clinical-Grade RTLS platform, with initial installations beginning in February 2015. This patent-pending, fully integrated BLE technology provides a well-managed and dependable architecture. BLE is increasingly present in smartphones and other mobile devices, and the integration allows for the use of embedded BLE technology from other infrastructure providers. This enables immediate communication between CenTrak’s RTLS and nonproprietary devices.
End users of CenTrak’s RTLS will benefit from many BLE standard features through applications offered by CenTrak’s solution partners. Consistent with CenTrak’s open architecture philosophy, both partners and end users can utilize BLE technology alongside other technologies in the Clinical-Grade RTLS suite, including Wi-Fi, UHF RF, Low Frequency (LF), and Second Generation Infrared (Gen2IR™). CenTrak has established an efficient upgrade path for the more than 550 healthcare facilities currently using its Clinical-Grade RTLS across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Dr. Ari Naim, President and CEO of CenTrak, stated: “We are eager to embrace all new technologies that improve functionality and subsequent utility of our location services. The complexity of locating assets, patients, staff, and now visitors in the healthcare environment requires a fully integrated combination of diverse technologies to achieve maximum benefit. We expect announcements to be forthcoming from our solution partners describing some of the innovative ways that they intend to leverage the BLE technology.”
CenTrak’s Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Technology was featured at HIMSS15 in CenTrak’s booth #4609.
